I worked as a layout artist and designer in the advertising department of a home improvement store in Eugene, OR for over 15 years. My specialty areas included the Garden Center and Seasonal departments. As with most retail stores, Jerry’s holds special events to promote product throughout the year.
I created the Let It Grow logo for a Spring event that highlighted our Garden Center. Vendors from local growers, fertilizer and yard care products, top garden power equipment manufacturers and outdoor grill companies attended this event to talk with customers, train them in the use of their products and promote their brand. Special tents and tables were set up in the store and parking lot to facilitate this. Let It Grow was an event organized to kick off our Spring season to encourage our customers to let Jerry’s help them make the best of the gardening or outdoor living months.
The Christmas season is also a huge revenue and brand building time of the year for Jerry’s. Let It Glow was another event Jerry’s put on during my time there. Organized in a similar way to Let It Grow, we brought in holiday vendors to talk, demonstrate products and give away special gifts to our customers. Every year Jerry’s Garden Center is transformed into a Holiday Wonderland that is greatly enjoyed by customer and employees alike. Part of this area is dedicated to an impressive holiday light display which accounts for a large portion of our holiday sales.
To promote this event, I worked with another in-house designer to create the Let It Glow logo. The logo was created in PhotoShop.
